Short Game Schools

Our specialty! We host half day short game schools designed to improve your scoring ability. The schools apply a scientific yet practical approach to golf instruction of Marius Filmalter, Director of Instruction. We teach the principals that have been learned through years of Marius' research and teaching top tour professionals. We stress the fundamentals of the short game and the ability to score -- proven skills successfully implemented by PGA tour players on a weekly basis.

Junior Programming

Just Juniors

Just Juniors is a weekly clinic just for juniors, ages 6-16 that introduces and reviews the fundamentals of playing golf to your aspiring young golfer. Each session will be an hour long and will reinforce the basic skills to play the game and get your junior ready to join you on the course! Sessions will feature a 6:1 student to teacher ratio for quality interaction with the instructors.

Junior Camps

We partner every summer with the Northern Texas PGA and the Frisco YMCA to offer 5 day junior golf camps. Two days at the Frisco YMCA , two days on the Practice Grounds at The Old American and a few holes on The Old American in the last day of camp. Golf clubs, other gifts and awards are included. Registration is through the Northern Texas PGA Junior Golf Foundation (www.ntpga.com) web site.

These camps are followed by 2 day, half day events designed to introduce your junior in the basics to play the game. We will use games and contests to teach the juniors how the game is played and get them “golf course ready” in this fun packed week. We will utilize The Old American Golf Course to teach them how to take their skills they learn and apply them in a real course setting, learning rules of the game and the club as well as how scoring is kept in the game.

Camps will be offered during Spring and Fall school breaks and weekly during the summer. Camp information will be posted on The Old American Golf Club web site.

Junior Golf Training Program

The Junior Golf Training Program, The Old American Eagles Junior Golf Team, is an invitation only program available to current junior golfers and also selected from juniors participating in the Just Juniors and Junior Camp programming at The Old American Golf Club. Our Mission Statement is to provide a systematic program for young people to develop their skills to a level where they can realize their desires and maximize their abilities. As juniors progress they will become available to play on a team representing The Old American Golf Club in tournaments against other facilities as well as develop into playing individual competitions on the Northern Texas PGA Junior Golf Foundation junior tours. The program will divide the juniors by ability and will have set goals to progress through the program. There will be coaching sessions multiple times during the week and as the program grows, segregated by the categories of progress. There will be a modest monthly fee per junior with multiple available coaching sessions. Members of the Old American Eagles are eligible for discounted private instruction as well.
